As we previously reported in last week’s News To Use email newsletter, the Florida Department of State has issued guidelines for the African-American Cultural and Historical Grants program. We are emphasizing this unique opportunity as part of our continuing efforts to help promote equitable access to cultural resources.

On September 8, 2021, Miami-Dade County filed its reply brief in support of its cross petition in the Coconut Grove Playhouse appeal. This completes the briefing for the entire appeal and the next step is for the Court to schedule oral argument and/or issue a decision.

On August 9, 2021, Miami-Dade County filed its response to the City of Miami’s appeal in the Coconut Grove Playhouse case to the Third District Court of Appeal after losing their case in the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. The City of Miami obtained an extension until August 24, 2021 to respond to the County’s cross petition.
